presents to the GP with flaking scaly skin on his elbows and scalp. He also
reports joint pain. Microscopically there is loss of the granular layer of the
epidermis with clubbing of rete ridges.
2. At the start of term a
medical student presents with a rash on his stomach and chest which is pink and
scaly. Microscopically there is non-specific dermatitis pathology.
3. Whilst recovering from a
bacterial infection a 22 year old lawyer develops a pleomorphic
skin eruption with urticarial weals
and sub epidermal bulla. It is later found that she had an epidermal
sensitivity to the antibiotics she was previously prescribed.
4. A 70 year old Australian gentleman
presents with a flat slowly growing black lesion which appears to be proliferating
down the hair follicle. The lesion is asymmetrical with an irregular border.
5. A middle aged gentleman
presents with an eruption of purple flat topped papules with mother of pearl
sheen. The lesions are on the flexor surface of his wrist. On histology there
is hyperkeratosis with basal cell degeneration.
